The effectiveness of various diets and usefulness of food additives are explored. Students will gain insight into the ways that food plays a variety of roles in maintaining health and reducing the risk of illness. Students will also learn the fundamentals needed to evaluate claims made by food faddists and food vendors. It outlines the functions of various nutrients on different aspects of the body and helps the student to understand the relationship between diet and health. Students explore methods of food growth and preparation as well as issues related to food. Students learn skills to make healthy food choices in different settings from eating at restaurants to buying food at the grocery store. Students examine the skills sport psychologists employ to help athletes achieve and maintain peak performance. These psychological skills are broadly transferable to both personal and professional life. The study of psychology provides you with an understanding of why people think and act as they do. OL Soccer and Society Students examine how the game of soccer impacts socio- economic, religious, political, and cultural views in countries around the globe. Students discover and analyze cultural trends and human behaviours influenced by soccer ideology and its effects on "pop culture". This course promotes critical thinking and encourages students to view literature, music and the media in a new light. Ten Yang style forms, their self-defence applications, meditation and Chi Kung are introduced. Students learn about the spiritual and medical benefits of integrating Tai Chi Chuan into everyday life. Every story has a background: cultural, religious, political, or economic. Without this background, it is hard to make informed judgements. This subject focuses on the main international news stories.
