In turn, they are constantly sending us messages through their body language, which we often either misinterpret or miss altogether, leading to a chance of being hurt. This course is designed to demonstrate how to read canine body language, quickly assess the intentions of an approaching dog, avoid errors when being approached by a hostile dog, defuse a display of aggression directed towards you, defuse a display of aggression directed towards your dog and protect yourself should an attack become unavoidable. This course may be externally recognized for continuing education credits: 2.5 with IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants), 2 with OAVT (Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians) and 2.5 trainers with CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog trainers). GINT 0174 | 2 HRS $56.50 loc date day time BA MAR. 14 SAT 9 – 11 A.M. BA MAY 23 SAT 9 – 11 A.M. Canine Trauma Response – Part 2 Would you know what do in an emergency situation for your dog? This trauma response course will assist in preparing you to put together a homemade first aid kit, muzzle and restraint, read your dog's vitals, bleeding and bandaging, broken bones and splints, shock management, safe emergency transport, canine Heimlich manoeuvre, and canine CPR. Participants will work with a live dog for hands-on practice. A summary exam and a certificate is presented upon completion. This course is the last three hours of the canine Emergency care course. This course may be externally recognized for continuing education credits: 4.75 with IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants), 2.5 with OAVT (Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians), and 3.75 trainers with CCPDT (Certification Counsel for Professional Dog Trainers). Dog to Dog Aggression – Basics This basic course is designed to teach canine rescue workers, trainers and dog owners how to assess, manage and treat mild cases of dog to dog aggression. Participants will explore how to identify and categorize the common types of dog aggression, isolate the dog's motivation for the problematic behaviour, set realistic treatment goals and how to choose the best treatment and/or management option for that dog. As well, the course reviews the technical aspect of applying strong management and two treatment techniques designed to rehabilitate the two most common types of dog to dog aggression. This course may be externally recognized for continuing education credits: 4 with IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants), 4 with OAVT (Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians) and 4 trainers with CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers). OMVIC Certification This course is offered in co-operation with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) and is a prerequisite for registration as a salesperson or dealer with the automotive industry in Ontario. It may be taken on a correspondence basis with testing at a variety of convenient locations across the province. With eight or more participants, we will be happy to come to your place of business to train and test your personnel on MVDA. This course will identify specific areas of the industry with a comprehensive scope inclusive of advertising, disclosure, contracts and current areas of the Sales of Goods and Consumer Protection Act. Automotive Record keeping (Basic) This online course is designed for salespeople and dealers currently registered with OMVIC who require supplementary education and training in bookkeeping and general business record keeping specific to the Automotive Industry. Automotive Sales Language Preparation This is a non-credit course which will allow students to prepare for enrolment in the mandatory OMVIC Automotive Certification Course.
