The skirts sewn in-class will be a custom fit and ready to wear upon completion in-class. Finished skirts include details like waistbands, zippers and lining. Garments created are evaluated for both fit and quality of workmanship. This course is part of a series of seven courses and should be taken first. Garment Making: Sleeves/Collars Using patterns created with the European method, students cut, mark, and sew several garments learning methods for installing sleeves and collars: button-down shirt with wing collar, knit sweater with raglan sleeve, and a robe with dolman sleeve and shawl collar. All items created will be a custom fit and ready to wear upon completion in-class. Garments created are evaluated for both fit and quality of workmanship. This course is part of a series of seven courses and should be taken fourth. EUpT 0011 | 30 HRS $285 loc date day time BA APR. 11 – MAY 9 SAT 9 – 4 P.M. Jewellery Making – Fabrication This introductory course is suitable for first-timers as well as those with some metal working skills. Exciting techniques such as rollerprinting, chasing, dieforming, and creating a hollow form will be demonstrated. Experimenting with patinas and the colouration of metals will also be shown. Learn to Draw This course will put the"fun" in drawing fundamentals. Whether an absolute beginner, or more accomplished artist, this course takes you step-by-step through proven techniques to build confidence in freehand drawing. Learn to Sew For the beginner – learn machine stitching, hand stitching, hemming, simple alterations, understand pattern instructions and, in the end, sew a simple garment. Modelist: Assymmetrical Dress Building on the dress styles created in the previous three dress courses, students draft and create mock-ups of several complex dress designs (with sleeves and sleeveless) including asymmetrical rouching and a variety of necklines using a European method. Students choose one style to finish to completion which will be fit to wear by the end of the course. Garments created are evaluated for both fit and quality of workmanship. This course is part of a series of twelve courses and should be taken sixth. EUpT 0020 | 30 HRS $285 loc date day time BA MAY 7 – JULY 9 THU 7 – 10 P.M. CREATIVE AND VISuAL ARTS COuRSES European Pattern Drafting Do you have a passion for fashion? In this intensive, fast-paced, one-week course, learn how to draft a bodice, sleeve, circle skirts and volant. Use your own measurements to create a perfect fit bodice with short sleeves. Create and fit mock-ups to study the basics of fitting and translating paper to fabric. Discover how to create a storyboard which shows the progression from a basic block to shaping and inserting darts. By the end of the course students will be able to sew a simple dress with mock princess lines and short sleeves. In-depth knowledge of sewing is required for this course. Prospective students will be required to complete a short questionnaire to determine their suitability to participate. Unique to Georgian College! This method of flat pattern drafting was introduced and perfected in Italy in the 1950s. It has been widely used on the runways of Europe since. Instructor Maria Calautti was formally trained at Le Grand Chic School of Fashion in Italy. She has earned exclusive rights in North America to provide training and share her expertise. Garment Making: Dresses Using patterns created with the European method, students cut, mark, and sew several dress types including sheath dress with scoop neckline, princess cut front and back tunic dress, and long- sleeved dress with gores. Building on skills learned in sewing tops, students learn about princess and mock princess lines. All dresses created will be a custom fit and ready to wear upon completion in-class. Garments created are evaluated for both fit and quality of workmanship. This course is part of a series of seven courses and should be taken fifth. EUpT 0012 | 30 HRS $285 loc date day time BA MAY 23 – MAY 30 SAT 9 – 4 P.M. BA JUNE 13 – JUNE 27 SAT 9 – 4 P.M. COMPuTER AND INFORMATION TEChNOLOGY COuRSES (CONT.) Word Long Documents Learn how to create cross-references, table of contents, table of figures, and indexes. Use Quick Styles to format your documents and customize your own styles to format paragraphs, characters, lists and tables. Create and manage footnotes, endnotes, citations and bibliographies. cMpS 0322 | 6 HRS $143 loc date day time BA MAY 27 – JUNE 3 WED 7 – 10 P.M. Word Tables and Merge Tables are used to display information for quick reference and analysis. Learn how to sort data and perform calculations. Apply table formatting such as borders and shading.
