It is your responsibility to be familiar with these regulations. The Georgian College Full-time Postsecondary Calendar contains academic regulations of Georgian College and is available for viewing on our website, in all academic departments, the Office of the Registrar, the Learning Commons/ Library and the Career Development Centre. grade appeals The procedure to appeal a grade is outlined in the official Academic Calendar or visit GeorgianCollege.ca progression policy Part time students who complete six credit courses will be evaluated to determine their academic progression. You must achieve a weighted average of at least 60 per cent to proceed. For further details, please refer to the official Georgian College Fulltime Postsecondary Calendar. cheating policy Although cheating is a rare occurrence, it does happen occasionally. Cheating is a very serious offence and penalties applied to students found cheating are accordingly severe. Please consult the Georgian College Full-time Postsecondary Calendar or GeorgianCollege.ca for the college practice on academic misconduct. grading system Numerical percentage grades are submitted by the instructors unless otherwise specified in the course outlines. A pass grade is 50 per cent unless indicated otherwise. The most recent grade achieved will be used in calculating a program average (if applicable). The promotional status of part-time students will be assessed once they have completed six (6) credit courses. They must achieve a weighted average of at least 60 per cent to proceed in good standing. Students attending courses at other locations should contact that campus. employment ontario college and career preparation College and Career Preparation is designed to help you bring your reading, writing, math and other essential skills to the high school level. In this program, you can build skills or work toward high school credit equivalencies. The Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate is recognized as equivalent to a Grade 12 diploma by all Ontario colleges and by many employers. ACE also meets the requirements for entrance into apprenticeship across the province. The ACE certificate is made up of four credits, including: Mandatory courses • Communications • Core Math Any two of the following courses: • Technical Math • Apprenticeship Math • Business Math • Computers • Keys to Success • Biology • Chemistry • Physics Individual ACE courses are also recognized as Grade 11 or 12 equivalent credits for college and apprenticeship entrance. You can also refresh your skills and learn new ones in a program custom-tailored to your needs. In addition, you can prepare for the GED test through College and Career Preparation. GED allows you to achieve a high school diploma equivalent by demonstrating relevant academic knowledge and skills. Successful GED candidates earn the Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate through the Independent Learning Centre. Georgian College does not administer the GED test with the exception of the Orangeville Campus, which hosts the GED Testing a few times per year. College and Career Preparation is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities as an Employment Ontario program, providing free upgrading for eligible learners. There is no tuition fee for most applicants. Assistance with childcare or travel costs may also be available. Need a bit more help?
