Plumbing Inspection This course provides the knowledge and skills needed to inspect residential plumbing systems in compliance with the Standards of Practice of the home inspection profession. OL Plumbing Inspection This subject prepares students to inspect, in a residential dwelling, the interior water supply and distribution systems (including fixtures and faucets), as well as water heating equipment and drain/vent/waste systems and their related fixtures. TEcH 0401 | 26 HRS $370 loc date day time MI JAN. 17 – FEB. 7 SAT 9 – 4 P.M. Residential Electricity This course covers the residential aspects of the Ontario Electrical Code. Installation methods both theoretical and hands-on play a big part in every aspect of this course. OL Roofing Inspection The emphasis in this subject is on typical defects of the various types of roof coverings, drainage systems, flashing, skylights, chimneys, and other roof penetrations. Students apply their knowledge to roofing to inspections that focus on system performance, safety concerns, and compliance with existing codes and standards. TEcH 0458 | 42 HRS $383.22 date loc JAN. 13 – APR. 21 ONLINE MAY 12 – AUG. 18 ONLINE Safe Lifting – Marina Operators This theoretical course provides an overall framework of Safe Lifting for Marina Operators, supervisors and employers, in order to work within legislative requirements in the Province of Ontario. Course content covers industrial cranes, lift trucks, mobile boat hoists and hydraulic trailers. Lifting tasks using forklifts, cranes, boat hoists and travel lifts will be discussed. Training in hazard recognition in various workplace scenarios is emphasized. NOTE: Employer must supply site specific training, as required by the definition of Competency, on all varied and unique lifting devices found in the field. Shop Skills This course prepares the student to be job site ready by covering the role of the apprentice worker, discipline and the culture of the skilled trades environment. Small Buildings – 2012 Review and become more familiar with the parts of the Ontario Building Code dealing with small buildings. This course is based on the Small Buildings Syllabus – 2012 and focuses on Parts 3, 9 and 12 of Division B of the Building Code and on Supplementary Standards SB-2, SB-3 and SB-7. You must bring a copy of the Ontario Building Code 2012 and the Small Buildings – 2012 manual to the first class. TEcH 0254 | 36 HRS (TExT ExTRA) $365 loc date day time BA MAY 6 – JULY 29 WED 7 – 10 P.M. Small Motor Repair Learn how to tune up and make repairs to small motors, lawnmowers and outboard motors. The limited number of students allows for more individual attention. Students are to bring their own project to the second class. Shielded Metal Arc Welding – Structural This course is designed specifically for all position Shielded Metal Arc Welding using E7018 electrodes. Hands-on skills development in the welding shop environment is emphasized. WELD 0041 | 36 HRS $600 loc date day time MI FEB. 21 – MAR. 14 SAT 8 – 5:30 P.M. Solar Panel System Installation This 18-hour course is designed for homeowners and commercial property owners who wish to design and install their own solar panel system. Emphasis is on system sizing, system selection, inverter theory, battery storage, installation procedures and safe practices.
