Students will be taught how to prepare and weld the necessary test plates using the proper techniques. Processes available for testing are: SMAW, GMAW and FCAW (all positions for each). Chainsaw Awareness This course covers the workplace legislative requirements for employers, supervisors and workers related to the safe use of chainsaws in industrial and construction environments. CNC Manufacturing Processes (Design Apps) Students work to design and manufacture projects and components using current CNC conventional tools to tight dimension tolerances. Students produce a working tool or prototype project complete with drawing including proper assembly techniques. The finished project is a mandatory requirement of the course. OL Coaching and Developing People The coaching and developing of people, in order to encourage their highest performance and ongoing learning, is a crucial component in today's work world. The roles of a coach and a facilitator require new skills to enhance the capabilities of their employees and to bring the best possible environment to the workplace. The skills of communication, coaching, delegation, motivation and dealing with conflict will be developed, together with an understanding of adult learning. OL Communication and Professional Practice The professional home inspector is required, both verbally and in writing, to describe the inspection process and communicate inspection findings to the client. It is imperative that the home inspector be able to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding of an inspection, once conducted. Students in this subject develop their oral and written communication skills, and learn the reporting requirements and proper conduct required of a professional in this industry. TEcH 0451 | 42 HRS $383.22 date loc JAN. 13 – APR. 21 ONLINE MAY 12 – AUG. 18 ONLINE Condensed Motor Control/PLC Prog This 18-hour course is designed for industrial electricians, millwrights and industrial maintenance supervisors and managers who wish to sharpen their skill set. Motors and motor controls are reviewed with an emphasis on troubleshooting. Basic relay ladder logic is reviewed before moving into basic programming concepts using "Smart Relays". Condominium Administration and Human Relations This course is designed to provide the information, knowledge and skills required for effective Condominium management. Condominium Law Participants learn all aspects of the law and documents that govern condominiums with emphasis on the Condominium Act 1998. OL Continuous Improvement Processes On completion of this course, participants will have available a wide range of tools and techniques for the practical application of Continuous Improvement in their workplace. The material will cover the standard approaches in the quality movement (e.g. 6-stigma, TQM), plus the shift to Lean Manufacturing and the ramifications to cost, inventory and scheduling. Project management will be introduced and the participants will undertake their own work-related project.
