19 72 19 74 19 73 When Doreen borrowed Bryan's school books in the late 60s, she joked she would only return them when he proposed to her. The couple has been married almost 45 years. Not content to sit idle, they're spending their golden years providing support to people and communities in need in Canada and around the world. Philip was part of the first cohort of marine students in 1973. He sailed the Great Lakes and built a strong network of friends and contacts, before taking to teaching at Georgian during the winters. Now a full-time marine professor, he says "It brings me great pride to see my students graduate and prosper in their chosen career." Thirty-two years after his first graduation, Phil returned to pursue the Police Studies degree. His favourite instructor, Rob Warman, inspired him to enter teaching. In 1993, when Rob nominated Phil for a Board of Governors' Distinguished Alumni Award, it was particularly meaningful. Phil is now a part-time Georgian professor and teaches serving police officers.
