19 69 19 71 19 70 Allan remembers the excitement and enthusiasm that staff and students exuded when Georgian first opened. A highlight for him was the grand opening of the first permanent Barrie Campus in 1969, attended by Minister of Education William G. Davis. In 1985, Allan incorporated his own real estate business and still uses the marketing and management principles he learned. Gord says that being on the varsity hockey team – and being Georgian's first-ever Male Athlete of the Year – are among his favourite college memories. Over the past four decades, he's built a successful business and is looking forward to the day when his two adult children take over the helm. Dave was the first-ever president of the student council. "I wanted to be part of something new and make a contribution," he says, citing organizing a dance, publishing a yearbook and starting a constitution among council's first activities. He used his business studies to become his own boss, founding Master Systems & Promotions almost 40 years ago.
