Late politician George McCague was named the first
Chairman of the Board of Georgian College in 1967. One
of his first items of business for his board was to name the
college. His uncompromising commitment to public and
community service set a strong example for the 30 board
chairs who have followed since.
Carol Anne fondly recalls the first event that brought all students together – building
an ice sculpture for Barrie's winter carnival. "Most nights we went home cold and wet
but it was great." The classroom lessons were memorable too. Sharon says she used her
Georgian training every day throughout her 47-year career as a medical secretary.
