Preping for the fall With September just around the corner, July is a great time to ensure things are in order for returning to school in the fall. Students should have housing arranged and begin thinking about what their new living accommodations will require. For students living off campus for the rst time, it may be an adjustment and quite different from residence or home life. For assistance nding off-campus housing, visit Applications for on-campus employment opportunities are accepted throughout the summer. Opportunities are available in various departments including Library Commons, Residence, Fitness Centre, Athletics, Food Service Operations, Peer Services, First Generation program, and more. Things to know this month: • OSAP application should be completed for next year, with all documentation in order – visit • There are lots of other funding options students can look into as well, including scholarships, awards and bursaries. Contact Financial Aid ofce and the Awards and Scholarships for more information – nances and /awards • July is a great time to submit your resumé for on campus employment opportunities Liam Squires As an awards ofcer at Georgian College, I strongly encourage you to apply, apply, apply! There are hundreds of awards offered each year that aren't just Awards Ofcer based on grades. Many rst-year awards are for students who are active in their community or show nancial need. Secondly, your cover letter is your voice! When applying for awards, make sure your cover letters are catered to each award so they reect who you are and why you think you're an excellent candidate –
