Summer term begins Many students are headed home for the summer holiday. For others, May has them embarking on new adventures, starting co-op work terms or returning to Georgian for the summer semester. If you are at home for the summer, try to stay connected with Georgian. Keep your eyes on important deadlines that may occur during the summer months. Check your student email regularly as it continues to be the way the college communicates with you. If you are on your rst co-op work term, you may feel excited and anxious about the opportunity to work in your eld for the rst time. Keep in contact with your co-op consultant to facilitate success throughout your co-op placement. Co-op is a great opportunity to integrate the academic course work from the past two semesters and provides students with the opportunity to make some money for the upcoming year. Things to know this month: • If you need to change to drop a course, you should do it early. The deadline to receive a refund (if applicable) for dropped courses is May 20 • Students with disabilities need to pick up their letters of accommodation at the beginning of each semester • Do you know any students coming to Georgian for the rst time in the fall? There may be transition programs available for students with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and First Generation students. Ask questions about where your program can take you and the career options available Manager, Co-op Education and Career Services upon graduation. Start networking with employers. Making connections early can increase your opportunity to get a part-time, summer or co-op work term in your chosen eld, gaining you valuable experience before graduation and helping you conrm your best program t. You're not expected to know it all! Connect with your Career or Co-op Consultant and they will support you as you move through your program and on to succeeding in your new career. College provides a great opportunity for hands on experience in your chosen eld and this will translate into more opportunities upon graduation!
