Getting involved on campus A well-rounded college experience includes getting involved in campus life. Volunteer opportunities, part-time employment, athletics, clubs and associations, Georgian College Student Association (GCSA) and events on campus are designed to build connections between students and enrich their learning experiences. Involvement in activities outside of academics enriches the academic experience. It can also assist you in determining your interests, build experience for your resumé, and contribute positively to your community. Join a club or association, attend or participate in events or athletics. Students can connect with the GCSA ofce for information on campus clubs, check with their First Generation Advisor about events, visit career services for information about on-campus employment, or check out the tness centre (Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound) for varsity, intramurals or extramural opportunities. Things to know this month: • The deadline to withdraw from a course or program without academic penalty is Nov. 13. Students should connect with their program co-ordinator or contact the Ofce of the Registrar for information. • Take part in the many stress buster and academic supports available this month including the Late Night Against Procrastination events. • Registration for winter Co-op work term begins this month. Michelle Kennedy I would say that it's really important to seek a balance. College life really is about balancing the mixture of social and academic events. It's important to make College Career and Preparation connections both in and out of class but it's also important to not tip the balance too far in either direction.
