FIRST YEAR FEES: $5,426.72 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Postsecondary diploma, degree, or equivalent, with a focus in interior design, interior decorating, or architecture • Applicants who do not have the above requirements may be considered upon submission of a portfolio showing evidence of creative ability, manual drafting and computer aided drafting skills, and industry experience Kitchen and bath design is a specialized service within the residential interior decorating and design professions. Students build on previous design education and experience to acquire industry-standard skills and expertise applicable to the kitchen and bath industry. Students assess client needs and focus on function-based design solutions and aesthetic, durability, and environmental considerations. This program covers technical documentation, specification conventions, fabrication methods, infrastructure issues, and relevant business practices. Career opportunities Graduates may find employment with: • design firms offering kitchen and bath consultancy services • kitchen and bath specifiers and/or fabricators • building contractors and developers • retailers • students with entrepreneurial skills may become freelance kitchen and bath designers KITCHEN AND BATH DESIGN KBDE GeorgianCollege.ca/IBRG 705.728.1968, ext. 1176 ONTARIO COLLEGE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE 1 year (1 semester) 1 co-op work term STARTS SEPTEMBER BARRIE APPROX. FIRST YEAR FEES: $2,546.27 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Completion of a qualifying Interior Design three-year advanced diploma with a GPA of 75% in the final year of the diploma • Submission of a successful portfolio indicating the potential for integrating into the fourth year of the Baccalaureate program • One Grade 11 or 12 Mathematics (U or M) with a minimum 60% • One English, Grade 12 (ENG4U) with a minimum 65% This program consists of one academic semester focusing on advanced interior design theory and research skills, as well as a co-op placement. The bridge is designed for graduates of a qualifying three-year interior design diploma program. Georgian's Interior Design program has an established reputation for excellence. The collaborative learning environment provides innovative and professional hands-on learning opportunities that respond to increasing academic and industry standards. Successful completion of the bridge will make it possible for students to apply for entry to the fourth year of the ARIDO-recognized (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) Bachelor of Applied Arts – Interior Design program at Sheridan College. Career opportunities The Interior Design Bridge program offers a pathway for graduates to obtain a Bachelor of Applied Arts – interior Design, which will provide currency in professional credentials and may facilitate further opportunities for advanced studies at the graduate level.
