FIRST YEAR FEES: $4,671.82 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • College diploma or equivalent with a specialty in jewellery and metals • Applicants lacking a postsecondary diploma, degree, or equivalent may be considered based on proven related experience in the chosen field SELECTION PROCESS Qualified applicants will be considered on an individual basis, based on the admission requirements, quality of the portfolio work and space availability. Only a limited number of applicants will be accepted. This program is directed toward students wishing to pursue goldsmithing or silversmithing as a self-directed career. Students will refine their jewellery and metalworking skills, develop their design abilities and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to design, produce and market jewellery (goldsmith) or flatware and hollowware (silversmith). Students specialize in either goldsmithing or silversmithing. Within their area of specialization, students choose a number of advanced techniques to concentrate on, and develop the in-depth knowledge and skills that would allow them to work independently or as designers. Career opportunities Graduates will be able to find employment in: • jewellery and fine metal manufacturing • jewellery retailing • custom studios • or as a self-employed jewellery and/or metal designer, craftsperson or teacher Some of the positions possible are: • goldsmith • silversmith • metalsmith • designer • jewellery and metals technologist GOLDSMITHING AND SILVERSMITHING GLDS GeorgianCollege.ca/DVID 705.728.1968, ext. 3710 ONTARIO COLLEGE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE 1 year (2 semesters) STARTS MAY BARRIE APPROX. FIRST YEAR FEES: $4,193.06 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent • Applicants must have a diploma, degree, or equivalent in photography (including a background in digital photography). • Applicants who do not have the above requirements may be considered upon submission of a portfolio and resumé showing evidence of creative ability, digital photography and imaging skills, and industry experience. Digital video has become a specialized service within the photography profession. Students in this program build on previously gained digital photography and imaging abilities and experience, adding industry-standard skills and expertise applicable to planning, capturing, and editing digital video. Students also assess client needs for video products and focus on realistic solutions that will be esthetic, marketable, and polished. This program covers pre- production, video capture, sound, editing, video esthetics, and relevant business practices. Career opportunities Graduates may find employment as: • videographers • assistants • technicians They will have the technical and entrepreneurial skills needed to use video in industries related to: • photojournalism • events • travel and tourism • public relations • online advertising • fine art • and more Business and technical skills will also provide graduates a variety of opportunities in the video wholesale and retail sales sector.
