FIRST YEAR FEES: $8,915.08 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with • Grade 12 English (U) with 65% minimum • Any Grade 11 or Grade 12 U or M Mathematics with 60% minimum • Six Grade 12 U or M courses in addition to those listed above with a minimum 65% overall average • First-year enrolment is limited – satisfying the minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission SELECTION PROCESS Applicants must submit a digital portfolio of four creative pieces plus one written document. This is a professional entry-level program specializing in creating interior environments in the context of professional interior design standards and practice. The purpose of the program is to graduate competent creative designers whose design solutions are based on human response in the contemporary environment. The curriculum emphasizes space planning and management, design process, research methodologies, socially responsible design, building systems, technological applications, contract documentation, and interior design presentation. Sustainable practices, entrepreneurship models, and regulatory codes are integrated throughout the curriculum. The degree is designed to meet current Council for Interior Design Accreditation's (CIDA) standards of delivery and content. Our program offers a uniquely collaborative learning experience which facilitates a hands-on model. Career opportunities Pathways include: • corporate/office design • residential and condominium design • hospitality design • retail design • exhibition design • health care design • civic design • historic preservation Many graduates enter directly into positions within established interior design and architectural firms. Career opportunities also include interior design positions in government, facilities space planning, and real estate development. FIRST YEAR FEES: $4,007.06 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) SELECTION PROCESS All applicants must submit three to five samples of creative work that represents their interest in the field of graphic design. Samples may be created using digital or traditional media. Work can be submitted by email, regular mail, or delivered in person. Please note, successful graduates of AADF at Georgian are exempt from this requirement. This program involves interdisciplinary, problem-solving activities which combine visual sensitivity with skill and knowledge in the areas of communications, technology and business. These professions specialize in the structuring of visual information to aid communication and orientation in both print-and web-based format. The depth and breadth of instruction in design and technology is reflected in the portfolio developed in the three-year program, enabling graduates to play more creative and independent roles in the workplace. Career opportunities At an entry-level of responsibility, graduates create and produce effective visual communications, in print and digital media, within constraints set by employers, clients, and the market. Graduates find employment in: • design studios • advertising agencies • newspapers • magazines • web/interactive studios • corporations with in-house design departments • government agencies • educational institutions • self-employment Future study options: Graduates of GRDE may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation and transfer agreements: Davenport University (US), Lakehead University (ON), Thompson Rivers University (BC), and University of New Brunswick Saint John (NB).
