Students also use it to practise case management skills and intervention strategies. FIRST YEAR FEES: $3,909.06 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) Students are provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely and effectively in a variety of careers. By sharing a common first year with the Police Foundations program, students are provided with an overall understanding of criminal justice and law enforcement and have the opportunity to transfer between programs. Second-year students are provided with academic and practical courses in areas such as investigative techniques, defensive skills and use-of-force applications, security procedures, crisis intervention, emergency management, and computer security. Career opportunities Graduates are eligible and adequately prepared to write the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services examinations, which are mandatory for private investigators and security guards in Ontario. Graduates are employed by: • government organizations • corporate and industrial security agencies • armed forces • hotels • casinos • retail establishments • and some are self-employed Future study options: Graduates of PSIN may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation and transfer agreements: Georgian College (ON), Davenport University (US), Griffith University (Australia), Laurentian University (ON), Laurier Brantford (ON), Nipissing University (ON), Royal Roads University (BC), University of New Brunswick Saint John (NB), and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (ON).
