Respecting an individual's right to direct their life, students develop advocacy skills that promote self-determination and assist individuals in the development of skills that encourage independence, community engagement, and citizenship. In the counselling and apartment labs, students practice sign language, medication administration, health care skills, counselling supports, and use of assistive devices and technology. In collaboration with community partners, students plan and implement activities that promote inclusion and self-determination. Other areas of study include intellectual, physical and mental disabilities, autism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, support options, health and well-being, social relationships, and teaching strategies. Certificate programs PROGRAM DETAILS CREDENTIAL CAREER OPTIONS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Criminal Psychology and Behaviour CPSY n This program will enhance the knowledge and skill set of individuals who work or volunteer in corrections, law enforcement, security, women's shelters, human services, youth at risk, or individuals who have a special interest in criminal psychology and behaviour. The program explores why individuals become criminals and why individuals are attracted to those with deviant behaviours. The program also explores factors that research suggests underlie criminal behaviours. GeorgianCollege.ca/PTCPSY No application required Certificate Graduates will gain an understanding of the concepts and issues regarding criminal behaviour which could provide opportunities in the workplace. This program could lead to working or volunteering in a corrections program, working or volunteering at a women's shelter, or working with youth at risk or individuals. 6 mandatory courses.
