Courses focus on mourning, grief and bereavement issues, communication strategies and religious philosophies of dying and death from the perspective of both the dying and bereaved. Graduates of this unique program will have the skills and experience to better understand, support and care for those facing or coping with loss and death. GeorgianCollege.ca/PTMGBE No application required Certificate This program is geared to those working with the terminally ill and their families, and for those who provide support and assistance to those affected by death, including police officers, fire personnel, early childhood educators, teachers, paramedics, social workers and employees and volunteers in hospitals, hospices and long- term care facilities. 6 mandatory courses. A Georgian College Attestation of Completion is awarded following the completion of the two required courses for a total of 72 hours of instruction. The principles of call-taking and emergency dispatching, the role and responsibilities of the emergency services communicator during a disaster, approaches to various types of crisis intervention calls (SIDS, suicide, etc.) and stress identification and management will be addressed. Students gain the requisite theory and practical skills requirements for NFPA 1031, Fire Inspector 1, as defined in Chapter 4 of NFPA 1031 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner – 2014 Edition. JUST 0062 42 HRS | OR Fire and Life Safety Educator In this course, students address the learning characteristics of various audiences and the necessary skills to deliver and coordinate existing fire and life safety education programs. Through successful completion of course content, students meet all requirements of Fire and Life Safety Educator I defined in Chapter 5 of the NFPA 1035 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information Officer, and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist – 2015 Edition.
