After a lengthy career developing merchant shipping in the Great Lakes, he left a legacy with a $1.5 million donation. "It is an honour to support the future leaders of the industry that has been a significant part of my life," he says. The Georgian College Students' Associations (GCSA) from all campuses collectively announced a $7.2 million donation to the Power of Education campaign in 2015. Current GCSA Barrie President Avery Konda was on council at the time. "It was an incredible opportunity to provide future students with services, opportunities and unique advantages that set Georgian apart from other postsecondary institutions," he says. Jamie founded the Operation Hero scholarship to support family members of those who serve in Canada's military. "It gives our community a chance to say thanks," he says.
