8 MEDS AND STCW TRAINING 2017 CENTRE FOR MARINE TRAINING AND RESEARCH marinetraining.ca INFORMATION ABOUT MED TRAINING CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS FOR MED TRAINING The following clothing is required for the MED practical exercises: • Swimsuit or shorts and a towel for pool exercises • Outside winter clothing for fire or lifeboat exercises – hats, gloves etc. • Clothing suitable for dirty environment – coveralls/ work clothes for firefighting exercises • Heavy socks • Steel-toed boots The college provides full protective firefighting clothing, coveralls and boots. NOTE: Georgian College provides all standard sizes of immersion suits for the training. Candidates with special needs are required to bring their own immersion suits. CLASS HOURS Please note that the classes generally include weekends. Class size is restricted to a maximum of 12 to optimize practical training time and to lessen the risk of accidents. TRANSPORT CANADA MARINE SAFETY AND SECURITY TRAINING CERTIFICATE A Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security (TCMSS) training certificate will be issued upon course completion.
