It blends theoretical concepts taught in the classroom with practical learning opportunities gained through exposure to various golf facilities in North America. The first year of the program is a general introduction to the elements necessary to work within this highly competitive sector. Courses include Introduction to Golf, History and Rules, Golf Skills Improvement, Golf Equipment, Storage and Repair and Hospitality Industry Certifications. Industry-specific courses in the second year prepare students for the positions they will fill when they enter the industry. Career opportunities Graduates are prepared for a competitive employment environment. The program will equip graduates with the necessary competencies to achieve employment in positions including but not limited to: • pro shop manager • tournament director • golf equipment tech representative Future study options: Graduates of GLFO may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation and transfer agreements: Georgian College (ON), Davenport University (US), Hartpury College – Associate Faculty of the University of the West England (UK), Royal Roads University (BC), and University of New Brunswick Saint John (NB). Faculty focus on building employability skills in the pillars of the hospitality industry: entrepreneurial thinking, accounting and finance, marketing and sales, food and beverage, accommodations and human resources management.
