FIRST YEAR FEES MASF: $5,568.92 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) • Grade 11 or 12 Biology (C or U), or Grade 12 Exercise Science (U) This program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the entry- level standards of practice as set out by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario through a blend of theoretical and effective treatment instruction. Students will participate in clinics and outreach practice settings that enable them to develop the necessary skills to perform an effective plan of care. Students can take the program in either the traditional delivery consisting of six semesters offered over three years with a break during the summer (MASG) or elect to fast-track by studying six semesters straight over a two-year period without any breaks (MASF). Career opportunities Graduates may give direct client care in the following settings: • chiropractic clinics • physiotherapy clinics • hospitals • medical and health centres • private physicians' offices • long-term care facilities • professional and amateur sports teams • fitness institutes • aesthetic and health spas • private corporations/industries • teaching environments Future study options: Graduates of MASG may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation and transfer agreements: Athabasca University (AB), Brock University (ON), Laurier Brantford (ON), Thompson RIvers University (BC), University of New Brunswick Saint John (NB), and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (ON). FIRST YEAR FEES: $13,976.78 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with: • Grade 12 English (C or U) • Grade 12 Math (C or U) • Grade 12 Chemistry (C or U) or Grade 11 (U) • Grade 11 or 12 Biology (C or U) SELECTION PROCESS Applicants will be assessed based on previous academic achievements in the prerequisite courses and an average of other courses within their final year of study prior to applying to the program. This program prepares graduates for careers as denturists. Students will develop knowledge, skills and attitudes consistent with their scope of practice – in particular assisting clients in attaining and maintaining oral health through the provision of complete, partial and immediate dentures, and dentures over implants. Students are trained specifically in clinical and laboratory aspects related to their field. Students will use a problem-solving framework; basing all decisions, judgments and interventions on current research and theory. The program prepares graduates for the legal and ethical responsibilities of a denturist and with a basic understanding of business practices related to self-employment. Career opportunities • Denturists work independently, interdependently and collaboratively with health professionals and clients. • Denturists are able to establish their own clinical practice or associate with other denturists or health care providers.
