FIRST YEAR FEES: $4,283.06 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) This program is focused on the planning, development, evaluation and administration of social/ health care services within the Aboriginal community. It includes business and community development studies with an emphasis on integrating cultural, social and health issues relevant to Aboriginal people in Canada. Cultural teachings and smudging are integrated daily throughout each academic semester in social activities, program courses, and traditional teacher/Elder visits. (Please note: Aboriginal includes First Nations, Métis and Inuit People) Career opportunities Graduates are prepared for entry-level administration and support staff positions within organizations such as: • community health centres • school boards • social service organizations • healing lodges • mental health centres Future study options: Graduates of ACSD may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation agreements: Algoma University (ON), Davenport University (US), Laurier Brantford (ON), and University of New Brunswick Saint John (NB). See page 23 for details. ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT ACSD Last year, Owen Sound and Barrie campuses organized events for Louis Riel Remembrance Day. They included a flag-raising ceremony and opening prayer. Attendees participated in Métis sash-weaving lessons, took part in friendship bracelet workshops, and watched How the Fiddle Flows.
