Entrepreneur's custom designs
Sixteen years ago, Graphic Design graduate Teresa
Vincent paired her trade and entrepreneurial spirit to
start UCA Branding. The local design company provides
high quality water, scratch and UV-resistant graphics to
any surface needed. One very visible finished product is
the Toronto Raptors' court.
One very big U.S. customer also has a connection
to UCA. A recent contest by Disney called Epic Deck
saw thousands of designers compete to make the
best board graphics for prizes and bragging rights.
The top three winning skins came from UCA's upstart
company, Boardskins, which makes custom designs
for snowboards, longboards and skateboards. The
entrepreneur in Vincent started this side project when
she realized how important individuality is to board
owners.
"Custom design is very popular," said Vincent.
"Originality is key nowadays and I feel that Georgian's
cool culture helped in that aspect of the company."
Vincent laughs that the year after she graduated, the
Graphic Design department instituted computers for
the design process.
"I learned a lot while at Georgian, but imagine what
they can do now."
