CONTINuINg EDuCATION practical Nursing Each year, more than 100 students enrol in the part-time Practical Nursing program offered at Georgian's Barrie, Muskoka, Orangeville and Owen Sound campuses. It is a very popular Continuing Education program for people wanting to pursue a second career and personal support workers wanting to become nurses. There are multiple intakes per year. Sara Budd, Manager, Continuing Education and Workforce Development, Health and Wellness, says many students are adults who have always wanted to become a nurse but could not afford to leave their full-time employment to study. "The program structure allows students to get the best of both worlds – studying for a second career while working," she says. Nursing simulation training allows students to practise their skills in a safe but realistic environment. Students also complete clinical placements. Upon completion of the program, they take their regulatory nursing exam. Part-time Practical Nursing student Heather Shouldice.
