If the information you're looking for isn't on the following pages, visit GeorgianCollege.ca/admissions or contact us at registrar@GeorgianCollege.ca Requirements For most Georgian programs, you must meet specific program subject requirements outlined in this book and online as well as one of the following requirements: High school students Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent Mature students (19 years or older for certificate/diploma programs; 21 for degree programs): • Credit courses taken at Georgian • Equivalent courses taken through high school or Independent Learning Centres • Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE) program and/or courses (not for degree) • Mature student testing, available at Georgian (not for degree) • Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED), covers everything but science requirements • Credit courses taken through accredited colleges or universities Home school applicants Applicants can write the mature student test,* (available at Georgian). *Excluding graduate certificate programs Prerequisite equivalencies Visit GeorgianCollege.ca and search "course prerequisite equivalencies" for a full list of courses and programs that are equivalent to C, U or M level courses: • Grade 12 English • Grade 12 mathematics • Senior biology • Grade 11 mathematics • Senior physics • Senior chemistry Credit courses taken at a college or university level will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Students must provide official transcripts and course descriptions. Courses taken outside of Ontario are evaluated based on the educational standards of that province or country. English language proficiency Students must meet admission requirements and – in some cases – provide proof of language proficiency. If you haven't completed: • Four years of studies in Canada in English or French at the high school level • Four full years of high school level study in an English-speaking country • One full year of study in an accredited university degree program in an English-speaking country Then you must submit an English language proficiency test with scores appropriate to the competitiveness of the program. Acceptable tests include: • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) • International English Language Testing Service – Academic (IELTS) • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) • York English Language Test (YELT) • Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) • Cambridge Suite Exams (CAE) • Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE) • Georgian's English for Academic Purposes Program (Level 4) Other tests may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Only TOEFL and IELTS are acceptable for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Pharmacy Technician programs. Selection and priority When there are more equally qualified applicants than spaces available in a program, applicants will be admitted in the following order of preference, as required by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities: permanent residents of Ontario, permanent residents of another Canadian province, citizens of other countries. Credit transfers and course exemptions Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited postsecondary institution and/or have relevant experience may be eligible for credit transfer or course exemptions.
