BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES The program This program is designed for individuals with cognitive disabilities and learning challenges who require academic accommodations and modifications for success. This program provides students with opportunities to enhance their academic and vocational skills in courses and field placements. Integrated courses are modified to students' specific academic abilities and strengths. Students are supported by learning facilitators who accompany students to class and provide additional academic support. Graduate career opportunities Graduates of the CICE program will find a variety of entry-level jobs depending on their area of concentration, for example: • A student who has taken courses in the Hotel and Resort program may become a kitchen assistant or work at a resort in a support role. • A student taking most of their courses in Office Administration – General may become a secretarial assistant, a file clerk, a mailroom attendant or may work in a purchasing department. • Some students may choose to enter other Georgian College programs after completing the CICE program, if admission requirements are met. Admission requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for admission to this program: • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Certificate(C), or be at least 19 years of age on the first day of classes • Demonstrate a level of independence that does not require constant supervision • Demonstrate academic needs which require curriculum modification to succeed Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older) and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED and equivalency testing. Refer to the Credit Transfer Centre website for details: GeorgianCollege.ca/admissions/credit-transfer/ Selection process • Complete an advocate reference form • Complete a questionnaire and a comprehension exercise during a mandatory program information session In some cases, students may require a criminal reference check and/or immunization form depending on the area of concentration they have chosen.
