BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES The programs These program offers the student an introduction to college studies, with emphasis on critical thinking and analytical skills developed while studying courses in the social sciences and humanities. Many students use the General Arts and Science program as a transition to further studies at either the college or university level. You may exit the two-year GAAS program after year one with a one-year GASC certificate. Students are encouraged to meet with the program co-ordinator regarding course selection and optional credits, depending on individual goals. Graduate career opportunities • Occupations with companies that prefer to do their own training • Employment with companies looking for staff with a broad educational background • Further education at college or university level Admission requirements OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older) and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED and equivalency testing. Refer to the Credit Transfer Centre website for details: GeorgianCollege.ca/admissions/credit-transfer/ Graduation requirements (GASC) Students are required to complete 1 communications course • 7 mandatory courses • 2 optional courses (see co-ordinator for list) • 1 general education course to be chosen from the college list • 1 humanities or math course Graduation requirements (GAAS) Students are required to complete 2 communications courses • 16 mandatory courses • 1 humanities or math course • 2 optional courses (see co-ordinator for list) • 3 general education courses to be chosen from the college list Future study options Graduates of GAAS may be granted credit toward degree studies at Acadia University, Bishop's University, Central Michigan University (U.S.A.), Conestoga College, Davenport University (U.S.A.), Griffith University (Australia), Lakehead University, Laurier Brantford, University of Guelph-Humber, University of New Brunswick, Saint John and University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Graduates of GASC may be granted credit toward degree studies at Bishop's University. Changes to articulation opportunities occur on a regular basis.
