GeorgianConnects GeorgianConnects is a streamlined system for posting your job opportunities; the system is simple, efficient and easy to use. You can post positions for co-ops and internships, as well as contract, seasonal, part-time or full-time graduate positions. GeorgianConnects is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at no cost. The job posting website is actively promoted to students from co-op and non-co-op programs, graduates and alumni. Employer responsibilities To hire a Georgian co-op student, you'll be responsible for: • Submitting an accurate job description. • Interviewing potential candidates and selecting a student to hire. • Acknowledging the student is hired in an employee- employer relationship; outlining hours of work, start and end dates, and job requirements. • Ensuring workplace accident insurance coverage is in place and conducting a workplace specific health and safety orientation. • Providing the student with orientation, training and an increasing degree of challenging tasks related to the learning objectives of their program of study. • Ensuring the student is provided with a supervisor who will oversee work, discuss expectations and give feedback. • Informing the employer relations consultant of any concerns with student performance or work-term changes. • Completing the New Agreement Form (for new employers). • Communicating with an employer relations consultant at least once for work-term monitoring (through an on-site visit, telephone, email or video call). • Completing an official co-op employer evaluation at the end of the work term • Compensating the student for their work at an agreed rate.
