DESIGN, ARTS AND LANGUAGE Diploma programs PROGRAM DETAILS CREDENTIAL CAREER OPTIONS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Interior Decorating INDC n Interior decorating is the art of creating distinctive interior spaces that respond to functional needs and address aesthetic perceptions. Students focus on the use of space, beautification and furnishing of interiors and the documentation of design concepts resulting in an overall package that conveys a sense of place. Using a variety of formats including lecture, studio and lab, students complete projects to interpret client requirements and create innovative interiors. Students gain professional and entrepreneurial skills for industry and self-employment, as well as real-life experience through participation in a field placement in the decorating field. GeorgianCollege.ca/PTINDC OCAS application required (program code: INDX) Ontario College Diploma Colour consultant, design assistant, designer (exhibit, event, product, set and window, digital merchandising, in-home interior decorator, model home/condo finishes, showroom merchandiser, interior decorating consultant, specialist/salesperson (flooring, furniture, paint/wall treatments, lighting, kitchens, window treatments), stager, and visual merchandiser. 19 program courses, 2 communications courses, 3 general education courses, and 1 field placement. Jewellery Design, Bench Skills and Business JDBB n Jewellery Design, Bench Skills and Business provides students with the hands-on experience and skills for a successful career in the jewellery industry. With access to industry experts, seasoned faculty and studios equipped with the latest technologies, students gain valuable expertise in stone setting, jewellery repair, and the creation of custom jewellery using hand fabrication and finishing techniques. Practical skillsets are further complemented through the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software, which is of growing importance in the jewellery industry. With first-hand experience working in and managing the campus jewellery store, this unique program helps student broaden their focus to sales, marketing, accounting and business practices suitable for small businesses, and for creating and managing an online presence.
