23 UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS | GeorgianCollege.ca In 2021, Georgian College signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Accord; an urgent call for action with 17 goals to end poverty, improve health and education, tackle climate change, and much more. Since then, the college has taken on several sustainability projects, one being retrofitting a 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia as an electric vehicle. Students and faculty from engineering and technologies, interior design and other programs came together to redesign the vehicle's interior and power it with electrical upgrades. The new VW electric camper was unveiled at the 2024 Georgian College Auto Show, featuring a pop-up camper and decked out with vintage blue and green plaid.
