34 GEORGIANVIEW 2019-20 WINTER CHANGEMAKER Before enrolling in Georgian's Social Service Worker program, Angel-Leigh Dupee had been a stay-at-home mother for 13 years. She was a military spouse, and her husband's career kept him away from home quite often. But the challenges of military life took their toll on her family. Her husband struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of his military experiences, which eventually led to the couple's separation. Angel-Leigh suddenly found herself on her own, raising four children. Food banks became a source of survival for the family, and she tried her best to wear her smile, noting that "no one really knew at the time what I was dealing with, and the weight I was carrying. I felt at a loss, as everything had fallen apart."
