S E S S I O N D E S C R I P T I O N S 2 : 3 0 - 3 : 3 0 P M H 1 1 4 How do we connect with students in the digital age and leverage the technologies that they use to supplement and enhance their learning experience? One way is to engage them through Podcasting. Podcasting involves creating audio or "enhanced" audio recordings that are downloadable to any mobile device. Podcasts can be used by teachers to supplement learning or by students to create digital assignments. Together we'll discuss the pedagogy, the evidence and the how-to and possibilities of Podcasting. P O D C A S T I N G F O R I N C R E A S E D S T U D E N T E N G A G E M E N T R O B T H E R I A U L T B R I A N D O R M E R L I G H T N I N G L E A R N I N G S E S S I O N S Lightning Learning sessions are engaging, informative sessions. In the room, participants rotate to each table in 20 minute intervals. U S I N G I N F O G R A P H I C S A S A N A S S E S S M E N T S A M A N T H A S U L L I V A N S A U E R Are you tired of grading yet another research paper? Consider assigning a research infographic instead. Keep the content but change the presentation method! In this workshop you will see examples of the successful use of research infographics as an assessment and be provided with suggested resources for their creation and evaluation. Examples will focus on organic chemistry but no science knowledge is required for their enjoyment! T H I N K L I N K ThingLink is a free and user friendly digital tool that can turn any image into an interactive graphic. Using "hot spots" on specific parts of an image you can include video, record audio or provide a link to any website with the click of a button. ThingLink is easy to use and very versatile in the post secondary setting. This session will demonstrate how to use ThinkLink and discuss some application for use in the online classroom.
