S E S S I O N D E S C R I P T I O N S 1 : 1 5 - 2 : 1 5 P M In this panel session, participants will have the opportunity to hear about the value of changemaking pedagogy for students, faculty and communities. In particular, Kelly Duggan will share the concept of Human Centred Design as an engaging and inclusive teaching and learning strategy; Megan Kirk Chang will discuss an in-process recent Georgian study examining the impact on faculty engagement for those teaching using a changemaking lens; and Tracy Mitchell-Ashley will examine Community Service Learning as a means of connecting students and faculty to the community in engaging and inclusive ways. These nascent technologies are poised to teleport students from the classroom to new, immersive and interactive worlds. The question on the minds of most educators is whether these experiences will be novel or truly transform learning. In this session, we will discuss how XR, primarily virtual reality (VR), is likely to affect the learning landscape in terms of simulation-based learning, teaching empathy and social VR as a synchronized online learning platform.
