Greg Miller began his career as a building inspector for the City of Barrie after graduating from Georgian's Civil Engineering Technology program in 1995. He recently assumed the role of chief building official and manager of building services with the Town of Collingwood, after spending nine years working as the Chief Building Official for the Town of The Blue Mountains. In addition to his role with the Town of Collingwood, Greg is currently the President of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). He served on OACETT's council for nine years before being appointed president in 2017 and has been an active volunteer with the organization since 1999. As president of OACETT, Greg is responsible for leading an organization which has more than 25,000 members, representing 15 disciplines and six different regions. He is responsible for leading strategic efforts as they relate to certification, succession planning, membership growth, retention and education. Greg is a former vice-president of the Institute of Engineering Technology of Ontario, which is the certification and standards arm of OACETT. He's also a voting member on the Technology Professional Canada's Leadership Committee. In 2017, he participated in the Ontario premier's business mission to China and Vietnam, speaking about OACETT's role to more than 200 Ontario and Chinese business leaders. While there, he also engaged in one-on- one meetings with representatives from organizations that included educational institutions and hi-tech companies. Greg also participated in the Elliot Lake Commission of Inquiry, established and implemented in July 2012 after the fatal Algo Centre Mall roof collapse. More than two decades after graduating from his Civil Engineering Technology program, Greg has a lot to be proud of, but he notes, "Georgian gave me the foundation for what I've been able to accomplish over my career."
