BRIDGE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (BRM)
"Human error" can be a major factor in maritime accidents. This five-day course is aimed at improving safety and efficiency on
board as it deals with the development of human resources and managerial skills of Masters, Navigating Officers and Bridge
Watch-keepers. The BRM course is highly interactive, involving a number of group discussions and case studies, and role-
play exercises using bridge simulators. Topics include situational awareness, communication skills, passage planning, bridge
organization, leadership and teamwork, stress and fatigue, and relationship with pilots and crew.

BRIDGE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – REFRESHER (BRM-R)
This three-day course provides refresher training in the principles of Bridge Resource Management (BRM), operation of the
Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and essential navigation skills to Masters, Chief Mates and Officers
in charge of the navigation watch. This course uses case studies, seminar and simulator exercises to provide refresher training
in situational awareness, error chains, communications and Bridge Team-Pilot relationships. The course focuses on recent
developments in the BRM field to keep the attendees current with accepted BRM practices.
