6 MED AND STCW REGISTER ONLINE marinetraining.ca INFORMATION ABOUT MED TRAINING MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS • must hold a valid Marine Medical or have completed a Medical Fitness Report form (download from marinetraining.ca). This Medical Fitness Report does not replace the Transport Canada requirement for a medical examination certificate issued under the authority of the Marine Personnel Regulations. • must pay all medical fees along with all applicable course-related costs • must be physically fit PREREQUISITES • please ensure you have reviewed and met all required prerequisites prior to registration • proof of prerequisites is required on the first day of class MUST HAVE TO ATTEND COURSE • valid Marine Medical or Medical Fitness Report • valid government issued photo ID • must be clean shaven (required for all STCW MED courses excluding Proficiency in Survival Craft) REQUIRED FOR MED POOL EXERCISES • swimsuit or shorts • towel REQUIRED FOR MED FIRE AND LIFEBOAT EXERCISES • outside winter clothing • hat, gloves and heavy socks • steel-toed boots • must be in clothing suitable for dirty environment including coveralls, work clothes and comfortable pants • no blue jeans allowed We provide full protective firefighting clothing, coveralls and boots, as well as all standard sizes of immersion suits for the training. Candidates with special needs are required to bring their own immersion suits. Please note: In accordance with CSA, NFPA and Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations and standards, participants taking marine emergency duties courses with firefighting components must ensure that nothing will interfere with the seal made by the contact of the mask to the face of the person wearing it. In most cases, this will require the participant to be clean shaven. Participants will be asked to participate in a fit test to ensure an adequate seal with the SCBA mask.
