15 ENGINEERING CONTACT US – 1.866.468.3225 CMTR@georgiancollege.ca PROPULSION PLANT SIMULATOR LEVEL 2 – SHIP MANAGEMENT PRACTICES This course is designed to provide knowledge of corrective actions to be taken in problem-solving in the recognition of signs and symptoms of a deteriorating function of ships' machinery. Upon successful completion of this course an applicant will receive a training certificate that is required to obtain one of the following certificates of competency or endorsement: • First-Class Engineer, Steamship or Motor Ship • Second-Class Engineer, Steamship or Motor Ship • Maintenance Supervisor, MOU/Surface • Chief Engineer Endorsement, Steamship or Motor Ship Prerequisites: CDN. The following prerequisites and conditions are to be complied with: • an applicant must have obtained a certificate of competency at a minimum level of a Fourth-Class Engineer STCW endorsed • while holding at the minimum a certificate of competency at the Fourth-Class Engineer level, an applicant must have completed a minimum of six months of sea service, as engineer in charge of an engineering watch or in charge of the machinery, on board a vessel of at least 750 KW Course code: MARI 0171 Course length: 14 consecutive days (80 hours) Course fee: $2,100 (TC examination fee is extra) OIL AND CHEMICAL TANKER FAMILIARIZATION This course covers the design and development of different types of oil and chemical tankers, their operations and handling systems during loading, transit, discharge and washing, and the safe handling of their cargo. Topics include the chemical and physical properties of different cargo, electrostatics, basic gas principles, health and safety emergency procedures, and pollution prevention. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued a Transport Canada certificate for Oil and Chemical Tanker Familiarization and will be able to assume the duties and responsibilities related to the loading, discharging or transfer of cargo and the operation of cargo equipment.
