14 ENGINEERING REGISTER ONLINE marinetraining.ca ENGINEERING PROPULSION PLANT SIMULATOR LEVEL 1 – SHIP WATCH-KEEPING PRACTICES This course is designed to provide knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of the ship's machinery to watch-keeping engineers. Upon successful completion of this course an applicant will receive a training certificate that is required to obtain one of the following certificates of competency or endorsement: • Third-Class Engineer, Steamship or Motor Ship • Fourth-Class Engineer, Steamship or Motor Ship • Watch-keeping Engineer, Motor-Driven Fishing Vessel • Maintenance Supervisor MOU/Self-Elevating Prerequisites: CDN. Entry to this course is open to individuals with basic marine background and knowledge and to marine engineers who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of the operation and control of the machinery installation of a modern merchant ship. However, the following prerequisites are to be complied with: • an applicant has completed a minimum of six months of sea service performing duties related to an engineering position on board a vessel • an applicant is registered with a Marine Engineer Cadet Training Program as defined in TP 8911 Course code: MARI 0170 Course length: 14 consecutive days (80 hours) Course fee: $2,100 (TC examination fee is extra)
