Also included is the application of the Condominium Act and other legislation in day-to-day operations. BUSN 0198 | 42 HRS | ONLINE $591.52 Condo Management − Introduction to Condominium Law In this online course, students learn about all aspects of the law and documents that govern condominiums, with emphasis placed on the Condominium Act, 1998. Related governance documents, including declarations, by-laws and rules are covered as well as how and when to use lawyers and other professionals. Discuss and explain documentation and find information. Other legislation affecting condominiums is also discussed. Discussions include the accounting process, financial administration, general ledger and coding, financial statements, presenting financial statements to the board, understanding and preparing budgets, reserve funds, the audit, investing and borrowing. Knowledge of Excel and Word is required. Finely tuned creative and critical thinking skills improve strategic planning, decision-making, and problem solving. Students learn how to think creatively and critically and apply those skills to both professional and personal situations. Students examine statutory law and common law in federal and provincial jurisdictions. Students review employment standards, health and safety, labour relations, pay equity and human rights legislation as it applies to management, unionized employees and union leaders. Making effective decisions in an organization means knowing the processes for assessing return on investment (ROI), creating a budget and anticipating variances.
