Get credit for prior learning experience (PLAR) If you are planning to study in a program where you have relevant work or life experience in that field, you may be eligible to receive credit through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). Part of the learning assessment may include: • proof of external certificates • portfolio submissions • completing challenge exams • past coursework • resumes Note: You can receive credit for up to 75 per cent of a certificate or diploma through PLAR depending on the relevancy and extent of your work experience. For degree programs, a maximum of 50 per cent can be obtained through PLAR. Letter of permission If you are a current student at Georgian College and are thinking of taking a course somewhere else and want to ensure it can be used towards your program at Georgian, please contact the Credit Transfer Centre at ctcregistrar@georgiancollege.ca.
