MOTORCYCLE TRAINING BASIC (M1 EXIT) DRVR 0003 FEE: $489 This 19-hour course includes both classroom and on-the-bike training; motorcycles are provided. Individuals successfully completing all instruction and the final test (M1 Exit) will be eligible to receive an M2 licence. To register for this course, you must: • Be 16 years of age or older • Possess and have available a valid Ontario Ministry of Transportation Class M1 permit MANDATORY RIDING GEAR IS REQUIRED: • DOT-approved helmet • Heavy, long-sleeve jacket • Long pants (jeans) • Gloves • Low-heeled boots that cover the ankle RATIOS: • One student per motorcycle • Five students per instructor BASIC SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN: Balancing, braking, cold starting, stopping, moving off and stopping, correct gear changing, signalling and shoulder checking, slow-riding and pattern riding. ADVANCED SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN: Traffic behaviour, collision avoidance, introduction to decision-making, emergency braking and dealing with obstacles. Weekends All courses are held Friday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings All courses are Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Weekdays All courses are Friday, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and two weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This Canada Safety Council course is the only national motorcycle rider training program. It has developed an enviable reputation both in Canada and internationally for its excellence in course curriculum and delivery.
