GEORGIAN LAUNCHING NEW PROGRAMS IN 2017 Georgian is adding to its broad complement of career- focused programs with 10 new programs, including two combined degree-diplomas with Lakehead University. Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree/Electrical Engineering Technology advanced diploma: Four-year Lakehead-Georgian combined degree-diploma starts September 2017 at Georgian's Barrie Campus and offers a solid foundation in all areas of electrical engineering. Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science – Environmental Sustainability (Specialization in Ecosystem Management) degree/Environmental Technician diploma: Four-year Lakehead-Georgian combined degree-diploma starts September 2017 at Lakehead's Orillia Campus. The program offers students the theoretical and practical skills and scientific knowledge they need to understand and monitor complex environmental systems. Baking and Pastry Arts: One-year certificate starts September 2017 at the Barrie Campus (with a second cohort starting January 2018). The program covers traditional and contemporary baking methods. Biotechnology – Health: Two-year diploma starts September 2017 at the Barrie Campus. The program helps students prepare to be lab technicians in a biomedical field. Communications and Professional Writing: One-year graduate certificate starts September 2017 at the Barrie Campus. Students will learn how to create, plan, edit and deliver messages for a range of audiences. Community Development and Social Innovation: Two- year diploma starts September 2017 at the Orillia Campus. The program takes an interdisciplinary systems approach to making transformative changes in our communities. Food and Nutrition Management: One-year graduate certificate includes two field placements and starts September 2017 at the Barrie Campus. Mechanical Techniques – Industrial Maintenance: One-year certificate covers health and safety, drawing interpretation, applied math, and more. It starts September 2017 at the Midland Campus. Public Relations and Corporate Communications: One- year graduate certificate includes one work placement and starts September 2017 at the Barrie Campus. Social Entrepreneurship in the Non-profit Sector: One- year graduate certificate includes two practical experience placements and courses in marketing, research, business planning, and more.
