Georgian and its marine and government partners have built a facility where student cadets and professional mariners can obtain mandatory Transport Canada training. It will offer: • One-stop shop for quality marine programs and training in Ontario • Courses in introductory and advanced firefighting, survival craft, life raft, immersion suit training and first aid Georgian celebrated the grand opening of the Segal International Centre at the Barrie Campus in September. The centre was made possible thanks to a generous donation from guard.me International Insurance. Features include: • Dedicated access points for the English for Academic Purposes program and student recruitment and services such as housing, insurance and international student advising • Multimedia screen and computer stations • Lounge space for peer-to-peer interactions for both domestic and international students, orientation activities and important information sessions on visas and cross-cultural communication • Reduced carbon emissions – no need to mow the field • Improved and consistent playing conditions • Longer life span – one artificial turf field equals the life span of three natural turf fields The Georgian College Students' Association (GCSA) led the charge to fund the $1.5-million state-of-the-art FIFA-certified sports field at the Barrie Campus. The donation is part of a 10-year, $7.2-million pledge by the GCSA to improve student life at all Georgian campuses. JOHN AND EILEEN HOLLAND STUDY LOUNGE: Quiet space where students can reflect on their coursework and study. FEDERATION HALL: Replica of a modern car dealership and industry- relevant space that features an interactive SMART board and jobs available in the industry.
