MEMBER GUIDELINES Program Advisory Committee 11 TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP Although a minimum of at least five members is required to form an advisory committee, normally membership is in the order of 10 or more persons. Nominations for membership can be made by the committee, its individual members, or by college employees. Nominated members for program advisory committees are approved for appointment by the college. The maximum term of membership is three years, with opportunity for one three-year renewal. Approval beyond this time frame will be on a case-by-case basis by the Vice President, Academic. Voting members are expected to regularly attend committee meetings. Absences by voting members for two consecutive meetings will be reviewed and addressed by the advisory committee Chair and the respective dean. Voting members should be external to the college (e.g., not a Georgian employee) and are appointed from among the following constituency groups: • Representative employers • Professional associations • Trade unions or employee associations • Other educational institutions • Social and government agencies • Graduates • Students They also possess the following characteristics: • Recognized by peers and associates as significant contributors to both career and profession • Prepared to devote time and energy to a community service • Capable of independent action and advice separate from that of a particular interest group • Capable of advising in the overall interest of the college
