MEMBER GUIDELINES Program Advisory Committee 9 ROLE OF THE PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE Georgian benefits from the advice of over 70 program and community advisory committees as well as special interest advisory committees. Program advisory committees provide advice on existing programs and influence the development of new, related programs. Membership of each advisory committee should represent all constituent groups related to the respective industry, community and/or specific initiative being served by that committee. Members with academic links from local high schools and/or university partners, as well as our alumni and student representatives, add value to the committee membership. Georgian's ongoing success is contingent on maintaining current relationships and forging new alliances and partnerships with employers and community leaders to ensure that curriculum is relevant and responsive to emerging workplace trends. The existence of a progressive advisory committee enables the college to remain competitive and innovative in the development of new and existing programs and courses. The college must always be aware of emerging technologies and new teaching trends. As a result of the current funding challenges in the Ontario college system, and the vital importance of Georgian maintaining its consistently high standards in teaching and learning, the college must also aggressively seek and develop new funding sources. Georgian will continue to play a leadership role in its contribution to the community and industry. The role of each advisory committee member, therefore, is to ensure this overall vision is maintained and nurtured.
