INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CAN LEGALLY WORK IN CANADA International students with a valid study permit enrolled in a co-op or internship program must apply for a work permit to be able to legally work off-campus during their terms. Since each work term may involve a different employer, the work permit will have conditions stating that Georgian College is the employer. Georgian decides where the student can legally work for the co-op or internship placement. This permit only allows students to work off-campus in positions related to their work term requirements. Students must have the co-op work permit before they can begin work. Students with a study permit for a program that leads to a degree, diploma or certificate, that is at least six months in duration will be allowed to work up to 20 hours per week. 5 INTERNATIONAL VIEWBOOK
