GRADUATE CERTIFICATES HIGHLY COMPETITIVE PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS GeorgianCollege.ca/PARM CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates who already possess provincial certification at the Emergency Medical Care Assistant (EMCA) level, will, after successful completion of the Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) program, be eligible to write the Ontario ACP certification exam and gain employment as ACPs with ambulance services throughout the province or across Canada. FUTURE STUDY OPTIONS Graduates of PARM may be granted credit toward degree studies via an articulation agreement with Thompson Rivers University (BC). PLEASE NOTE Additional requirements include: • up-to-date immunization record • Police Vulnerable Sector Check ADVANCED CARE PARAMEDIC PARM This program is designed to provide paramedics with advanced knowledge and skills for practising emergency health care and to prepare them to function as leaders in emergency situations. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to safely and competently care for patients of all ages and administer advanced medical treatment measures. The program is comprised of classroom instruction, skills and patient simulation labs, clinical practice and internship. ONTARIO COLLEGE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE 1 year (3 semesters) STARTS SEPTEMBER: Barrie Approximate fees for three semesters: $16,433.55 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Two-year Ontario College Primary Care Paramedic diploma, and a current Advanced Emergency Medical Care Attendant (A-EMCA) licence or equivalent • A minimum 2,000 hours or one year experience in an urban EMS setting is required SELECTION PROCESS • Resumé (EMS experience) • Reference letters • Selection testing PLACEMENTS 1 clinical practice 1 internship GeorgianCollege.ca/ADTP CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Career opportunities may include: • addictions counsellors • substance abuse counsellors • chemical withdrawal management counsellors • addictions nurses • problem gambling counsellors • attendants in residential, out-patient and streetfront treatment settings FUTURE STUDY OPTIONS Graduates of ADTP may be granted credit toward degree studies via an articulation agreement with Aspen University (US). ADDICTIONS: TREATMENT AND PREVENTION ADTP Students learn to provide a client-centred and client-driven continuum of treatment for individuals with addiction problems. With a solid framework of individual and group counselling skills, the students study individual, gender and societal considerations and the resulting treatment implications. They practise motivational interviewing techniques and learn the importance of matching client needs with intervention options. In addition, students reconstruct education and prevention strategies and design, facilitate and evaluate such tools.
