FIRST YEAR FEES: $4,283.06 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OSSD or equivalent with • Grade 12 English (C or U) • Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U) This program is scheduled to take advantage of typical Canadian construction seasons. Upon graduation, students are prepared to work with engineers, designers, and construction project managers. Students are exposed to three program principles: 1) Proposal development (construction of roads, bridges, sewers, water mains, and other infrastructure) 2) Cost estimation 3) Field work (materials testing and project administration) The use of the latest codes and standards, site management techniques, and related computer technologies, along with integrated work placement experiences, equip graduates to succeed. Career opportunities Graduates may find work in the private sector as: • quantity surveyors (estimators) • purchasers • site supervisors and project managers • drafters or designers using computer- aided design (CAD) technology They may also find work in various government agencies, including roles in municipal building inspection/code enforcement Future study options: Graduates of CVTY may be granted credit toward degree studies at the following institutions via articulation and transfer agreements: Algonquin College (ON), Camosun College then University of British Columbia (BC), Cape Breton University (NS), Davenport University (US), Griffith University (Australia), Lakehead University (ON), McMaster- Mohawk Bachelor of Technology (ON), University of New Brunswick (NB), and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (ON). The program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of current competitive architectural/construction environments that challenge professionals in the field, including mastering the latest codes and standards, site management techniques and computer technologies.
