Students will apply concepts about assessment in developing evaluation methods suitable for different types of learning in both the classroom and workplace. TATA 0004 | 6 HRS $130 Coaching This course examines the principles and techniques of coaching and their application in the workplace and the classroom. Students will be introduced to a practical coaching model. TATA 0009 | 6 HRS $130 Developing a Course or Training Plan Students will engage in a systematic planning process designed to help individuals prepare a syllabus based on a course outline and to develop a training plan for the workplace. TATA 0018 | 6 HRS $130 Facilitating Group Process Students will develop skills to facilitate co-operative learning and group process in an instructional environment; identify and analyze techniques to work effectively with groups; and apply positive communications skills that encourage active participation in group settings. TATA 0003 | 6 HRS $130 Facilitating Learning Online This course introduces students to methods and tools for creating online learning activities. Students will gain hands-on experience with an online learning system. Registration for this course will close 48 hours prior to course commencement to ensure proper registration. TATA 0021 | 6 HRS $130 Multi-Generational Classroom Today's adult learners bring a variety of backgrounds and experiences to the classroom. This course examines the implications of a multi-generational classroom on learning and development. It provides practical applications for engaging each generation of learners in a multi-generational learning environment. TATA 0022 | 6 HRS $130 Teaching Adults with Learning Disabilities This module concentrates on building awareness of and sensitivity to the special needs of students with learning disabilities. Many students have difficulties learning in a traditional environment or using traditional methods of instruction or evaluation. Students learn teaching strategies to assist students with learning disabilities in a classroom or training situation. Students are introduced to the concept of training as a tool to promote business success by enhancing the performance of the organization and its employees. TATA 0008 | 6 HRS $130 THERAPEUTIC RECREATION COURSES Adapted Recreation for Therapeutic Recreation This course provides an overview of the conceptual foundations of therapeutic recreation. The phenomena of play, recreation and leisure are examined in historic and contemporary contexts; society's attitudes toward individuals with disabilities are explored, and the role of therapeutic recreation specialists is analyzed using a number of contemporary professional practice models. Students are challenged to develop their personal philosophy of therapeutic recreation professional practice. TREC 1004 | 42 HRS $354.48 Assessment Processes This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and conduct individualized, systematic Therapeutic Recreation assessments for diverse client groups. The course introduces students to the tools and processes necessary to determine clients' interests, skills, thoughts and feelings related to their leisure life. Students use the information gathered to develop individualized intervention plans. TREC 1002 | 42 HRS $354.48 Biological Sciences in Therapeutic Recreation This course prepares students to participate effectively as members of the intradisciplinary team. Students acquire a basic understanding of the human form and function, biomechanics and lifespan development. They are introduced to basic medical terminology and gain an appreciation of the expertise and roles played by various team members. TREC 1014 | 42 HRS $354.48 Facilitative Techniques Therapeutic Recreation is diverse in the populations it serves and in the settings in which it is delivered. Therefore, diversity is demanded in methodology. This course examines a number of facilitative techniques including, but not limited to, positive behavioural interventions, adventure-based programming, reminiscence, relaxation, sensory stimulation and the therapeutic use of humour, horticulture, animals and music.
